Born in 1833 in San Fernando De Rosas, Zaragoza, Mexico. Died in September 14, 1914, buried in Zaragoza, Coahuila de Zaragoza, Mexico

Son of Ygnacio Torres and Maria Josefa Rodriguez de Luna. Recruited from a small Mexican village along the bank of the Rio Grande and mustered into service in the 8th Texas Infantry Company C on or about August 22, 1862 in San Antonio Texas by Captain J.M Penaloza. Company C of the unit were Tejano Confederate Soldiers-Texans of Mexican ancestry, spoke entirely Spanish. The company was led by Tejano Officers. He was 28 years old, laborer, illiterate and non-English speaking.
Unit served in the battle of Corpus Christie, engagements in coastal Texas and the Red River Campaign in Louisiana. Unit transferred to the 33rd Texas Infantry- Benavides regiment in the Rio Grande Valley.
