Lt. Col. Elbert Bland

Death: Sep. 20, 1863 Fort Oglethorpe Catoosa County Georgia, USA

Confederate Officer. Graduated from Medical College of New York. Assistant Surgeon, Palmetto Regiment, Mexican War; Surgeon, 1st South Carolina – 1861; Capt., Company H, 7th South Carolina – April 15, 1861; Lt. Col. – May 14, 1862. Bland was appointed Lt. Col. on May 14, 1862. He fought a duel with Maj. Seibels during the Winter 1861/1862 near Manassas, Virginia.Wounded at Seven Pines, Fredericksburg and Gettysburg. Killed at Chickamauga.    Bland was wounded at Fredericksburg in December 1862. He was killed in action at Chickamauga, Georgia on September 20, 1863.
