Adrian Nathaniel McDaniel was born March 25, 1844 in Warren County, Tennessee and joined the 16th Tennessee Infantry on May 18, 1861 at camp Harris in Franklin, Tennessee for one year. He reenlisted at Grahamville, South Carolina along with several more men in his regiment into Company I, 4th Tennessee Cavalry. At the Battle of Dover on February 3rd 1863 his horse was shot out from under him, breaking his arm. The Confederate army paid him $150 for his horse. He was captured during the retreat from Tullahoma, Tennessee and was paroled on July 24, 1863. He died on November 3, 1919 and his obituary states that he served four years under the Confederate flag.
