Served throughout the war. He saw fighting at Seven Pines, The Seven Days, Boonsboro Gap (South Mountain), Sharpsburg (Antietam), Chancellorsville, Ocean Pond (Olustee), Drewry’s Bluff, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg.

At Chancellorsville he was captured and sent to Camp Delaware then exchanged on 23 May 1863.

He was laid to rest in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church cemetery, Bartow County, Georgia.
