Green Massey was born on March 6, 1843. He joined the 27th Georgia Infantry Regiment on September 9, 1861, in Georgia when he was 18 years old. He fought in the Battle of Seven Pines VA where he was wounded. He married Joanah C Hill in Macon, Georgia, on December 30, 1865. They had 8 children. After Joanah passed he away, he remarried Nancy Georgia Parten in Macon, Georgia, on April 16, 1891. Green Massey died on March 8, 1928, in Macon, Georgia, when he was 85 years old.
