Thomas Jefferson  “Jeff” Downey. Born was born around July 1834 in Rutherford County, NC, and died on December 26, 1911. He is buried in Cool Springs Cemetery located in Forest City, NC.  His parents were Thomas Downey and Milley Hearing Downey.  Thomas “Jeff” Downey married Martha Padgett on 9/24/1854 in Rutherford County, NC. She died in  1859. They had one daughter named Arkansas Downey. In 1860 Thomas “Jeff” Downey married Mary Padgett 1860. They had 9 children together. Mary Padgett Downey died around 1883. He married Sarah Hardin in 1884 and had 4 children together.
