John “Jack” Waters Goode born on December 29, 1818, died December 7 1900 in Rutherford County, NC. He was the son of George and Nancy Waters Goode. He married He founded Goode’s Creek Baptist Church in Cliffside, NC. He married Mary Hopper and had 11 children. He was a farmer and Blacksmith in Rutherford County, NC.

He enlisted with the NC 34th Regiment Company I on October 6, 1861. He was wounded in Virginia and admitted to General Hospital #9 in Richmond, VA. in May 1862. He was later discharged from service due to disability on May 24, 1862, and returned home to Rutherford County, NC. He became a Blacksmith and later founded Goodes Creek Baptist Church in Cliffside, NC. He is buried at Goodes Creek along with his wife Mary Hopper Goode.
