In 1854, author and abolitionist Nehemiah Adams journeyed from Boston to the South to see first hand the “peculiar institution” of slavery in practice. What he discovered astounded him, and he wrote this book to warn his Northern brethren that a continued assault on Southern slavery would lead to the destruction of the Union and the ultimate ruin of the Black population. Of particular interest is the chapter written to discredit the claims of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Discredits many of the myths of modern slavery reparation advocates. This rather obscure book is presented for research purposes only.
