Faithful 3’x5′ polyester reproduction of the North Carolina Republic’s flag of 1861. North Carolinians honored their historic secession from the union in 1861 with a revised flag design honoring its birth as a state in 1776. These dates were important to the Old North State citizens due to the American principles of state sovereignty and state’s rights. The first date was their secession from England during our first revolution and the second was its secession from the union of states during our country’s second revolution.
