David Alexander was born on February 1, 1840, in Athens, Clarke Co., Georgia, the son of Smith Alexander and his wife Nancy Stephens. He married Mary Jane Henderson of Cobb Co., Georgia, in 1856, and by 1860 they were living in Fulton Co., Georgia. Enlisted in the Confederate Army as a Private in Co. B, Cobb’s Legion, 41st Georgia Infantry. After the war, David and his wife and children moved to Colbert Co., Alabama, where they were living in 1880. He was employed as a wagon-driver for the Allen Thread Company. Died on March 7, 1882, and was buried in the Old Zion Factory Cemetery between Bear Creek and Hackleburg in Marion Co., Alabama.
