Archibald Keeton was born on 20 November 1827, in Walker Co., Alabama, the son of Reuben Keeton and his wife Mary K. Townley. In 1850 in Walker Co., Alabama, Archibald Keeton married Martha Jane Staggs. On September 6, 1862, in Jasper, Alabama, Archibald enlisted as a private in Co. C, 13th Battalion Alabama Cavalry Partisan Rangers, which was later consolidated with the 15th Battalion Alabama Partisan Rangers on June 8, 1863, to form the 56th Alabama Cavalry Partisan Rangers. He later moved to Mississippi where he died at Tishomingo on March 7, 1899. He was buried at Ridge Cemetery in Itawamba Co., Mississippi.
