Mustered in at Dandridge, TN on February 15, 1862 at 18 years of age in to  Capt. John D. Thomas’ Company, Col. W.M. Bradford’s 39th Regiment TN Volunteers. Transferred to Capt. David Neff’s Company, 1st TN Cavalry in November 1862. Was involved in over 30 battles and skirmishes, but was tragically murdered by East TN Lincolnists John Bartly, Dick & John Rayminds, and John Biddle at the age of 22 on April 21, 1865 while on his way home.
