Robert is the son of Jacob Alexander ROBERTS (b: 22 May 1811 in Chesterfield Co., VA) and Glovina Lenor Welch (b: 19 NOV 1819 in Tennessee) He married Nancy Adeline MEACHAM (b: 5 JAN 1847 in Kentucky) on the 21st of February 1866. Nancy is the daughter of Joseph George MEACHAM (b: c1822 in Kentucky) and Susan Caroline BOAZ (b: 20 January 1828 in Davidson Co., TN)

Served in A. H. Bradford’s 31st Tennessee Infantry, Company K
